Hi all, this is the Black Toy.
this is the first import i owned.
was a diehard GM fan,
but after learning what i could do in it that my old Pontiacs and Buicks wouldnt do, I fell i love.
i bought this from a kid that worked for me ( i managed a skate board shop for Santa cruz) in 1989.
paid him $300 and a ride home
the kid was a friend of the son of the original owner. title was never transferred, so im 2nd owner.
i had to get a release from the loan company.
drove her "hard" for 22 years, 6 days a week, 100 mph once a day for most of those years.
got the car with 300k on it and she was rough
body rot, some bad bondo, split exhaust valve. ( sounded like a old VW bug)
shes got over 800k on it now
been though countless engine changes (all 2T and 3T) a few trannys. i like the later units with the rearward shifter.
only a couple of rear ends, about 15 years ago i put in a unit i think came for a corona wagon. its 1 inch wider then my stock.
still drum brakes and leaf springs.
i did some stuff with my springs.
took a main leaf, cut the eyes off, flipped it over to preload and lower them.
i know there is a better way but, this is the hill billy way and its worked for a lot of miles.
i could go on, i have almost 30 years of story’s for this car.
raised 4 kids in it, ive rolled in its side once, ive taken it swimming. and she is a hell of a off roader.
so, some pics =
so this was a long time ago, the boy in the top of pic, is my son, now grown up, thats his Black MR2 in the pic above
this is the last build in ,09
should have left her on the stand
i know, the car is a mess, but that is for another post.
there is a lot going on with the car right now, so look for my other post on this off the wall hillbilly build
swallowed a carb check ball. hit 3 cyl before exiting.
dont try this at home,,, it hurt
so the last rebuild has about 3500 miles on it.
it was parked for awhile cause the state of Calif. said they would take it if they caught me on the street again
so she sat,,,,
and sat,,,,
then one dumb ass day i took her out to play and this is what i did
so hats off,,, give respects,, she dead,,,
way way worse then it looks.
was really rusted to start with, and she folded like a cheap beer can.
2nd gear got away from me in the gravel,
had my path picked through the bushes and trees, but a ditch found me first.
it was about 3 ft deep when i got out of car.
R.I.P.
so i have had another 76 TE51 sitting for years wait for the "Transplant" into it.
so the "Transplant" finely begins,,,
doing some weird things this time,
like my wiring (2 fuse boxes, 3 relay boxes) is from a 98 Acura RL.
my P/S is going in this time.
so thats more then enough for now.
i will have tons of post on this build, as its been in the waiting for years
so if you like, look around for my stuff.
Welcome and thanks for being part of
