It's really good to see only liftbacks in this portion of the forum. 'bout time!! Since I didn't know this forum existed when I started building my 76 liftback, I just want to post a link to the forum where I'm documenting my build. I hope the mods are ok with this....especially since i just ordere a bunch of stuff from yall 3tcgarage.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2649Maybe i'll wander over here once the forum gets its feet. Good to see a quality looking site popping up for the old schoolers. I'm always looking for parts (especially interior parts) - so anyone with some TE51 things for sale, the wallet is never closed.

thanks for the positive compliments. I'll be sure to keep you guys in the loop.
In the meantime, anyone here ever rebuilt a window regulator? there are some ebay kits for celicas, but don't look like they would work on the corolla. Any advice?

Any advice? ok, so my hill billy way,,, my main, big "gear" had lots of stripped teeth. welded all the blank spots and spray painted a profile from another gear over it,, and started grinding away,,, worked great, still in service after around 500k miles. i might have to use it still in the new transplant cause the parts car has stripped windows too. seems to be a thing with our models. doors are long and glass is heavy. i think they could have built them stronger.

thanks guys. check again my thread over at 3tcgarage to see the latest progress. i just broke open the steering gear....i'm attempting a rebuild based on the specs from the FSM and the parts i can find online....i'll post my findings. I already made my own rag joint and am sourcing bearings as best as i can online. this will come through though.
another big point for me....transmission. I'm looking to swap to a manual tranny but don't know the details involved with doing so. From what I read online, I can either go with a T40 or a T50 with the 2TC, right? Any tips here? how to threads i can read through? i'm not worried about pedals, slave cylinders etc. at the moment, but more about trannys mountings, adapter plates, driveshaft lengths, shifter lengths, etc.
thanks for any help

i believe that the T40- T50 are the only bolt in. i hear a lot of W5x trans being used, but dont know all thats involved. i use a early 80s unit cause i like the shifter. its rearward some. there is also big and small starters. i think you have to get a manual cross member too. drive shaft is diff for auto. they also had 1 and 2 piece shaft. some where they changed the splines on the output shaft. so look out for that too. hope its some help see ya
