My 1984 GL corona wagon will only start if i have the Key Cranked on Start,Then when its off start it will just die. Im new to toyotas So I dont know much about the rona accept its a Great Piece Of Art To Build with. Im thinking its the Starter?? PLEASE HELP! Want this running Asap!!! Will Get pics when i can if this thread stays alive thanks! Also thinking it could be the ignition?? dont want to be selling my limbs for things i dont need just want this running so i can start building!!! ASAP! 3T Engine All stock for the mean time

Welcome to the forum. if this isnt it, some one else will have an answer possible ballast resistor. coil has full 12 volt power in cranking via a bypass in the starter, then when you go to run, power is then run through the ballast. if ballast is burnt out, no power to coil in run position. hope that gives you something to work with

I agree with crash_x and add that it could be the ignition switch itself also

Cheers Ill have a look at a new ballast resistor,and ignition switch,its said to be pretty comon in old cars so i have hope!!,will get some pics and keep updated,thanks for the warm welcome

you might test the ballest by, by passing it and giving the coil a full 12v. if it runs, then thats the prob. the only trouble i have had with the ign. switch (TE51) was the starter side wouldnt give full voltage to the starter solenoid, so i put in a relay to carry current to the solenoid. kind of like ford did. so that all the ign switch had to do was turn on the relay. so, get your pics up and post for the cover contest. mines there, so any thing after will look better then mine LOL
