Figured I'd start a build log here for my 85 MR2 EV project. I got it as a completed swap but with 23 trashed lead acid batteries, but all the wiring and motor/mounting was well done. I'm converting it to be more awesome. Engine is an ADC 9" brushed DC motor. Current controller is a 500a Curtis, new controller will be a 1000a Zilla Old batteries were lead acid's at 120v nominal New batteries are 20kwh of Zero motorcycles lithium ion batteries. More than double the range and 1000lbs lighter. New car weight should be ~2000 lbs Planning to run ~160v nominal through the Zilla at 1000a, for around 220hp Runs through stock gearbox and axles, until they explode First drive after I bought it, on dead lead acid's: Amazingly well done original build log: www.amphibike.org/index.cgi?page=pages/3_wheels/mr2Current status: In process of building new battery racks Finished wiring first charger Need to install, mount, weatherproof, and wire the batteries Based out of Portland if anyone wants to help...

I don't think I ever shared with you the pictures from when we removed over 1000lbs worth of the old batteries.

Oh god, I thought I had blocked that whole experience from my memory. 65lbs each if I recall.

I'm keen to see where this goes. To the local autocross events, where nobody knows me yet, silently, where I will attempt to come out of left field and lay down a top time. Electrons are better than liquid dinosaurs.
