I always had a dream of importing a car from Japan. Wasnt sure if i wanted a KPGC110 or a Celica but for the price a Celica at this time seemed more reasonable. After doing some research i found this 1976 TA28 Celica. It made its way here from Yokata Air Base in Japan to Long Beach California. Then transported to the Importers facility in Texas. After import apparently the engine was not running which really delayed finalizing the purchase so I just kept a watch. The importer covered the cost to have the engine repaired. We finally reached a financial agreement and i had it shipped to me in Tennessee. I admit the car was not as quite pristine as i had hoped. Has a few small rust spots and has one small tear in the drivers seat but otherwise interior in mint. Bottom line though i love the car. Down the road I'll surely restore the body but for now its a driver. Details: 1976 TA28 Toyota Celica 54k Kilometers 2T-U Engine with T50 So here it is! I kept the OEM fender mirrors along with the wheels and tires off of my 75 and transferred them to the new car fyi. This car came with factory paint matched bumpers and fender mirrors along with several other upgraded dealer options. Here are pics from the night she was delivered. What i have added to the car so far: T3 Coilover Conversion T3 Camber Plates, Black and Gold T3 Control Arms with Urethane Bushings T3 Tension Control Rods T3 Roll Center Adjusters T3 Lateral Rod with Urethane Bushings T3 4-Links with Urethane Bushings T3 Front Strut Brace, Custom, Black T3 300mm Big Daddy Brake Kit with Slotted Rotors New OEM Toyota Hubs New OEM bearings, Caps, Nuts, Washers, Seals Nardi Classic Steering Wheel Works Bell Steering Hub Here she is after I added all of the parts. Added a little touch to the rear also

Real nice car... But the dash... This grey dash is GT spec, the previous owner put it? It suits the car but then I expect a 18RG or 2TG under the bonnet... For as far as my knowledge goes the JDM ST's had the wood grained dash as all ST's worldwide used to have. Any plans on swapping the engine as well? Or want to keep it as origional as possible (like I do with most of my cars)?

Engine wise I will be staying with the factory 2T for now. It already has a mild cam. Only other plans with the engine are Dual Webers and a Header.

Nice. With that setup the engine will have the same power as a stock 2TG engine. So it will have as much power as a real 1600 GT as well.

The 2TG engine, so the 1600GT, did not have more... "Only" 108hp, wich was quite a lot for mass production cars in those days...

And I purchased side drafts for the car. Just not sure with the weather if I'm going to wait to install them until the spring or not for tuning purposes.

I would give my left nut if I could buy/afford to buy an early 70s Celica fastback.
